Red Ripe Strawberries

Have you ever read "The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear?"  If not, you can have it read to you on YouTube here.  It's super-cute and it's one of our family's favorites!  The illustrations are just adorable!  My favorite is the strawberry in "disguise."

Today's nail art is Red Ripe Strawberries!  Enjoy!!

To make the Red Ripe Strawberries, I started with a single coat of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Cherry Red, then added a thin single coat of Pure Ice Splash on top.  It made for a beautiful color!  The pictures don't even do it justice.  Then I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Emerald City and a really thin brush to make the leaves.  The seeds were made Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Black Out and my smallest embossing/dotting tool.

I'm hoping the warmer weather means I'll get to enjoy some real Red Ripe Strawberries soon!

Sharing Some Nail Art Love

As much as I love painting my own nails, I really love the chance to share that with others!  Below are some photos of some Nail Art Designs I got to paint on someone else!

First, I painted my dear four-year-old daughter's nails bright green for St. Patrick's Day.  She's not a fan of holding still, and her nails are pretty tiny, so when she does let me paint them, it's usually pretty simple.

Yesterday, my best friend on the whole wide world came to visit me!  She's lives about two and a half hours away and came up for a Girls' Day!  It was wonderfully refreshing to spend time together!!  And I even got to paint her nails!  She's a K-State grad (for which she is forgiven ;)) so we did KSU Water-Marbling.  Even though I'm not at ALL a fan of these colors (see previous KU Jayhawk inspired nail art), we sure had fun doing these together!

I think I've mentioned before that I am a youth director at a church.  Last week, one of "my kids" asked if I would paint her nails, so we met up after church to paint them and another gal's nails, too.  "P" wanted KU Sparkles like I did a few posts ago, and "J" decided on some Spring Diagonals.

Hope you're out enjoying the First Day of Spring!!
and some NCAA Basketball, too!

Rock Chalk Sparkles

Good morning!  Today's nail art is for my Kansas Jayhawks, who managed to squeak out a win yesterday against Oklahoma State.....by only one point.....in the Big 12 Tournament.  Today, we play Colorado, who we've beaten twice already, but who's beaten K-State three times now.  Won't be a walk in the park!  So to encourage them, here are some Rock Chalk Sparkles!

I tried something new by painting one nail on each hand red and all the rest blue.  I think it worked well!  It's a recent trend I've noticed in other nail art blog posts, so I thought I'd give it a try.  For the blue tips I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Blue It and for the red Cherry Red.  Then the blue sparkles are Pure Ice Strapless.

Let's hope my nail art cheering on the Jayhawks is helpful today!  ROCK CHALK!!!

P.S. Does anybody even read this?  Just curious....

Fancy Pendant

This was a fun one!  And classy, too, if I do say so myself!
I bought this really neat fancy pendant and earrings last weekend and wanted to try to make my nails match the design.

First, here's a picture of the necklace and earrings I was trying to match:

I think the nail art the design turned out to look quite a bit like the pendant.  They're classy, fancy, and fun!  And here they are!

A few other views:

This is the sweater I wore with them.

I started with a base coat of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Emerald City, then added a coat of Marine Scene on top of it to make the green-blue backdrop.  Then I added the silver which was done with Kiss Nail Art Paint.  I finished the design with dots of Sally Hansen Marine Scene.  Topped it all off with top coat to smooth things out.
